The oil company Esso changed its name to Exxon, because "Esso" means something
vulgar in Japanese. (Are there any Japanese forum members who can tell me what
it means?)

Also, when the first James Bond films came out, in France they changed Sean
Connery's name to "Sean Donovan". (I know what "connerie" means in French).
