and i think it is also safe to say that the reverse is also true..that is..
most chess programers are not chess players
or if they do play chess it is not at a strong level
for most porgrammers chess itself means nothing
it is a game they picked due to its perceived level of difficulty
the early AI programmers picked chess as a vehicle to try to emulate human
intelligence
it might as well be any difficult game they chose
