Subject: Re: CCT Blitz? Some suggestions....

Go up one level in this thread

Some random thoughts:

1. The best part of CCT is having so many particpants, so I think we should go
for just one big swiss.

2. The other problem I have with a round robin is the strength difference of the
participants: there is no point in having Crafty play Tohno.

3. If we keep it to one day (shouldn't be hard) we can just use Tomato, meaning
the job of the TD is pretty easy.

4. IMO CCT is already a bit of a "rapid" timecontrol when compared to the 40/2
of the world championships, so my idea of a "blitz" timecontrol is about 15+1 or
so. 5+0 isn't even chess, it is a new game called "time management" :) At 15+1
each round would last 35 minutes, so an 11 round blitz tournament would take 385
minutes = 7 hours.

5. In any case, I think we need to talk to ICC about getting tomato to handle a
multiple day event. ICC has been great this tournament; I think they could
really take it to the next level with a bit more work.

6. I think we need to relax the programmer draw rule. What is wrong with the
programmer offering a draw anyway? As Lance says, this is a gentleman's game.
