As Steve says, this idea that only 250 CC1's still exist is pure speculation,
and has very little basis in fact. There were 1,000 sold, and this notion of
only 250 comes from somebody's estimate that 3/4 of those were sent back in to
Fidelity to be upgraded to a CC3. This seems way out of proportion to me, also.

However, a CC1 with original plastic pieces, like I am certain this latest one
of mine is, does not seem to be mentioned anywhere that I am able to find. I am
going to attempt to ask the question on the German sites, but since Fidelity was
an American company and relatively few of them made it to Europe in the early
days, I doubt I will get any definitive answers.

I almost threw these small plastic pieces into my discards with the other cheap
stuff I don't want. I thought that they were simply some crappy replacement
pieces somebody had added to this CC1. Then I looked at one of the rooks, and
noticed that it had a very distinctive top to it. I thought I had seen it
somewhere else, and when I looked at the picture on the CC1 box, there it was!
They are still crappy, cheap plastic pieces, but now I am certain they are the
original pieces for this very early CC1.
