This is a catch 22. If you listen to Fischer's voice & rantings about the 'Dirty Jews', you will understand how deaply offended I was. (I'd like to think I'd be that offended and angry even if I wasn't Jewish, but I don't know), but it was a mistake for me to listen to his ranting, and I don't encourage anyone else to either, if they wish to avioud being hurt so deeply. I do know that there was a holocust, that around 10 million Jews, polish, and other's perrished horribly in it, and that these horrible things in human history begin with just the words of SICK, RACIST character's like Fischer who claim their was no holocust, and influence those on the 'fringe', especially the young into believing that too. And hating other groups irrationally follows... Now just think about something very important in your life that was influenced by someone you didn't before know anything about. But that person brought you into what you were involved with today. For example, let's say you had a teacher that led you into loving music and making it your career as an example. Than you find out that this orriginal person was a horible, horible human being, or at the very best, had become a horibly SICK human being, and was saying slanderous things about you or your race. Even without him saying bad stuff about you directly, he/she was saying this evil, horible stuff about your whole race. Can you truly say that you would feel quite the same about music as you did before? Certainly I will always love chess and be glad I took it up, but like John Lennon's music after his tragic death, I can never listen to that song, or play over that game with quite the same nieve enthusiam. My sadness is that a deranged lunatic took him out of this world, and because of that there will be no more John Lennon music. Of course, I still Love John Lennen's music, and Bobby Fischer's very brilliant chess games, but at the same time I am deeply saddened that Bobby Fischer has become at best a deranged lunatic, and at worst a sane man who has become an extreme racist. He had so much potential even after becoming World Chess Champion, and I am sad that that was lost too. And definately, my thoughts are affected by the course of these sad & tragic events in our world... mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
