I have been religiously following every tournament so far. >outstanding, including his tremendous performance in the world championships >where he lost to karpov by a whisker. He still lost. I don't care if Karpov got an advantage (he did).. This is Anand's style. He chokes. We witnessed it when he played Kasparov in 1993 (or something). >(He has not agreed to play in kasparov, >not because he is scared but because of his contractual obligations to FIDE; and >as he rightly pointed out, whether or not this contract is legally binding , he >is a man of his wordand therfoere wouldn't like to break the agreement) He has indictaed a willingness to play. Surely he is not a great man of his words then, is he? >mr kasparov is no doubt better but he is not the best player in the world. that >title belongs to DEEPER BLUE. Uh.. if you believe that, I have nothing to say. At least Anand can take defeats on the chin, like >a man and without making excuses. Without making excuses, where did you get that. Just for instance, when he choked against Karpov, he had a host of excuses. As GM Seirawan pointed out, Anand's excuse of being tired doesn't hold because he was able to beat the other players before he came to the final. As soon as he lost, he trotted the excuse "was tired".. And soon after that, he played in some super Category events, and did well (finishing first, if I recall). He always feels "tired", "is playing too much chess", etc etc.. when he finishes behind in a tournament, and invariably these are the ones when Garry is playing. >kasparov cannot do that, the moment he sees >himself squarely beaten,he starts whining and squeaking, about cheating etc. He comes up with good results =most+ of the time. Look at his performance this year. Compare it to Anand's. He and his coach have dismissed it as reason "he played too much." >Kasparov IMO is the mouse and not Anand. When Anand can consistently win tournaments where Garry is playing too, he will show some credibility. He is already nearly 30. Garry was world champion when he was 21. Conclusion: Anand remains a super mouse.
