I bet you were disappointed with computer chess programs 10-15 years ago. Why? Because they could not play strong. Why should a program be disappointing to you when it couldn't play strong and not disappointing to a much weaker player when it cannot play a "good weaker game"? > >If you want to play against weak humans you do not need to buy a computer. >You can play against them in tournaments. Bull. The market for programs that play a human-like weaker game is there. Just because you are a strong player and are not included within that market does not mean that the market does not exist. People should have all options available to them: Internet, home on computer, and tournament. At the moment, home on computer is a poor choice. I can play G20 on Chessmaster 6000 on one of the middle level settings, come up two pieces for a pawn and still lose the game. Why? Because all of a sudden in the endgame, the program is suddenly playing 500 rating better than it was in the opening. Talk about frustration! I want the entire game to play at my level. I do not want the opening and early middlegame to play weaker than me and the later middlegame and endgame to play much stronger. This frustrates me so much that I am writing my own program. > >If you do not want to get out of your home then you can use ICC or other sites. Again bull. Some people do not want their phone lines tied up. Some people want to play on a laptop or palmtop. Some people do not want to pay ISP costs. Putting your limitations and expectations on others is unrealistic. > >Uri KarinsDad :)
