The idea is good, but you have to watch and control the number of rounds vs
the outside demonstrations. Nobody wants a 2-3 week event. Even if it has
all sorts of entertaining things going on like the above GM challenge.

I can't say anything about pricing, not knowing anything about Canada. But I
can assure you that the fastest internet sits right here in the USA. It is
called "internet2" and has set huge speed records for data thruput... I use
it all the time and download 100mbyte files in seconds...

That doesn't help however, as a network is only as fast as its slowest link,
and when you go overseas, or to anyplace outside internet2, you compete with
all the other traffic and nothing goes thru such stuff quickly.

12 days is simply too long. You will be asking someone from outside North
America to be away at _least_ two whole weeks. That is a long time, and
not inexpensive. I think a week is the most you can expect this thing to
last... And even a week is a long time.

That isn't bad at all, but in general, the hotel isn't the most important
cost. Air travel can be huge from overseas. And the time off from work for
those with full-time jobs can be even more valuable to them, as it might
represent a major piece of their annual vacation time.

I have put together such things in the past. It takes time, but not an
overwhelming amount of time. But the problem will probably be in trying
to convince anyone that this is worthwhile after the "deep blue show".

This is my third WMCCC. All three were _horrible_. In Jakarta, we heard
absolutely nothing. In Paris, we would have gotten nothing if not for Thorsten
and his mobile phone. I'd think that the DGT people (or something similar)
would provide their hardware to make live games automatic (if they don't screw
up too much).
