These two positions are taken from a fast blitzgame ( 3 0 ) played on ICC ; when
looking at the game I found out they are surprisingly difficult even for a few
commercial chessprograms although quite easy for humans .
Issue is : judge and find the right move very fast .
[D]2b5/p2k1pBP/1r2p3/q2pPpN1/1pnP1Q2/1Pp5/P1P2RP1/K2N3R b - - bm Qa3
This one is probably pure tactics , Qa3 and mates.
[D]2b5/p2k1pBP/1r2p3/q2pPpN1/1pnP4/1Pp1Q3/P1P2RP1/K2N3R w - - am Qf4
Qf4 is to be avoided , that's clear . Probably it is bm Qc1, too . This might
need the knowledge that it is possible for the White king to hide behind an
en-passant capturing pawn on a . Anyway , will "your" program sense the danger
and defend against the mating threat going on to a comfortable win ?
I suspect most chessprograms will understand these two positions given enough
time ; yet , time is not always availlable .
Here is the PGN which looks quite funny : White resigned one move after
thinking it is +10.49 up .
