Hi, I have a new chess variant, I don't know if it has been invented before, I call it "Positional Chess". I call it like that because a very small positional error can cause inbalance to your position and perhaps, lose, not in a fast, but in a slow process. Its algorithm is very simple, is just a 4x8 chess board (4 wide, 8 tall). In the first line (in this order), a knight, a queen, the king and a rook. In the second line the 4 pawns. If you just cut the chessboard in half, this variant can be perfectly played. There are no bishops because they can hardly do any good in this 4 square wide board. Reinhard, can you implement this variant to your protocol? I find it very interesting and this could help improve any engine's positional understanding. Things that I noticed while playing this variant with my friends (perhaps, they can be wrong): 1. The 2 center pawns are very important to keep them for a later endgame position, they are easier to crown instead of the other 2 lateral pawns. 2. King and a lateral pawn (only) vs a king = draw (if the king plays correctly). 3. The rook and king vs king mate can be perfectly achieved. This are my tips, I hope that you could consider this project Best Regards, Juan Pablo Naar
