Many games have been posted here already showing how Fruit is defeated. If you look here- http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?463395 you will find a weak player beating Fruit 2.2.1. Why I find Shredder and Fritz (latest) much harder to defeat than Fruit is hard for me to "data-mine" (and find the underlying rule or reason). Fruit's king safety seems to be an Achilles heel, but it is not the answer. Maybe the other two make me walk the tightrope more. When I buy my copy of Fruit soon (my free download trial version has I think expired or will expire in the next day or two) I will select a good victory and probably email it to you. If I post it here, you will hear barking that I am boasting or something ridiculous. But.. To avoid any doubt, I think Fruit 2.2.1 and its cousin the latest Toga are the best engines to use in computer vs. computer games. I am not anti-Fruit. Also, for analysis, Fruit seemed to me preferable than Shredder - and definitely preferable to Fritz which should not be used for many types of position! Best, A.S.
