You don't have any right not to be offended. I believe that anybody using a real name on a public Internet forum must place no value on his privacy. Look at uproar over web sites that track users or send out private data. Every major message board I've seen allows handles and more and more people use them. The "public" is more bothered by the lack of privacy than by what some anonymous poster is saying and rightly so. If somebody doesn't want to hear what an anonymous poster is saying, the right solution is technological, through personal preferences, not through wholesale censorship. Sites like Slashdot have the system for that already in place so there isn't even any need to reinvent the wheel. If something illegal is said, the "real name" used with the posts here is so easy to fake that it won't make any difference in the court. The judge will have to subpoena icdchess' records to get the IP number and ISP's records to get the poster's identity anyway.
