You have to distinguish between two different implementations under the Shredder GUI. The direct WinBoard implementation using the WinBoard adapter suffer from the problems you mention as clarified several weeks before. However, there's a freely available UCI protocol that should solve these problems and ensure optimal performance. A native protocol similar to what Chessbase uses except that it's freely available. In this case the Yace engine support both protocols and the user, who reported the problems in this thread, had installed Yace using the wrong protocol. Whether it has anything to do with the time losses is another question. >The ERT has no such disease. Maybe, maybe not. >Let me rephrase more accurately what you said: >"The CHESSBASE implementation of the Winboard protocol is DISEASED, as are >all others that send "new" before every move, etc., etc." I didn't say anything like that. It was a specific question about a specific GUI and the various options it offers. The accuracy of your statement is also debatable. Mogens.
