Jeroen told me Anand is one of the best (well)grounded people in
the world when it comes to opening theory. Jeroen and I will go
to Italy as I think I most probably need his opening advices
desperately :)

Jeroen is in charge for that, perhaps he is willing to answer this
at least if he reads this posting. Of course Rebel will not play
its usual book lines. Last year when playing against Yusupov we
had no special book preparation other then setting the Rebel
book to wide (tournament book=off).

Against Anand we will take the book preparation more serious. One
of the biggest differences between the Rebel-Anand event and the
Deep Blue-Kasparov event is that Rebel9 is commercial available.

Every GM can get familiar with Rebel, its playing style, its book
and find the weak spots. In the case of the Deep Blue-Kasparov event
Kasparov met a total unknown opponent both concerning its playing-
style as well as with the Deep Blue opening book. This is a serious
disadvantage for Rebel.

To survive this preparation of Anand (if possible!) Jeroen will make
all kind of different opening books for Rebel. My job is to make a
special chess engine also to escape from the preparations of Anand.

If this counter preparation is not done I fear Rebel will lose
without a chance and that is not what I had in mind :)

In the meantime I have developed an "ANTI GRANDMASTER" setting for
the Rebel engine. It tries to play different chess, meaning confusing
moves for the human brain, but still play good chess. It's currently
tested by a few good chess players. It's too early for conclusions yet.

But one thing is for sure, Anand will not play against the normal
Rebel as otherwise I have no chance at all due to the fact Rebel is
general available. Whatever the outcome of the match the "ANTI-
GRANDMASTER" setting will be included in the next released Rebel and
will be developed and improved for the future as it is my goal to
arrange such matches at least once a year so it makes sense to put
some energy in this new development.
