The new Alpha-21264 does not only have find-bit instructions but also
population-count instructions. Digital originally added both because
of a request from Cray Research for their T3x line of massively parallel
supercomputers. Cray's long-standing customers are simply used to have
these instructions but now that SGI owns Cray no outsider knows if any
Alpha-21264 will ever make it into a T3x ...

BTW, we have been waiting to get our hands on a Alpha-21264 for roughly
a year because "DarkThought" will hopefully speed up as much on them
as "Crafty".
