After beating Fritz 5 in 2nd overtime in a very close matchup,
Chessmaster 5555 (CM 5500 + Walter-Pilz + special piece values)
has reached the finals against defending champion Rebel 9.

Hardware: 2x P6-233, 64 MB RAM.
Time control: 40/120 + 40/120 + 60/rest

Chessmaster 5555 - Fritz 5.0  7,5:6,5  (+5 =5 -4)

Rebel 9.0 - Chessmaster 5555  1,0:0,0

(final series consists of 12 games, first to reach 6,5 points wins).


*** Summer Cup 98 ***

Nimzo 98 was withdrawn because it doesn't allow for playing without the opening
book.

Hardware: as above
Time control: 60/game, no opening books!!!

 1. Fritz 5     3,0 (won direct comparison with Scarlett)
 2. Scarlett II 3,0
 3. Junior 4.6  2,0
    Hiarcs 6.0  2,0
 5. Nimzo 98    0,0 (withdrawn)

Group B:

 3. Virtual II   2,0

qualified for the finals:
 Rebel 9 (seeded), CM 5500 JS (seeded), Fritz 5, Chess Tiger 11.4.

CM 5555 and Scarlett II will play for the final slot.
