And THAT engine will only run if: a) Advice or Game Analysis is in progress, b) The "Chessmaster" checkbox of the Thinking Lines window is checked, or c) The "Chessmaster" radiobutton of the Visual Thinking window is selected. And, there will NEVER be more than one mentor engine running at a time. If b) and c) are both true, then they will both use the same engine instance. If a) is true, then whatever the mentor engine was doing previously because of b) or c) is suspended for a), which is a higher priority feature. Then again, maybe that wasn't so simply stated.... ;-) Let's just say that there can never be more than three engines at a time simultaneously: White, Black and Mentor. Any cases in which there ARE more than three engines at a time are due to Windows taking a long time to free memory that the engines require, preventing them from shutting down immediately. jm p.s. The "average" user probably doesn't understand half of what is in our manual, doesn't have a hope of understanding half of what is in the intermediate tutorials (let alone the "advanced" tutorials and the more advanced Josh games).
