Nevertheless it should be taken into consideration a point that has been
frequently made for deep blue, that is, that the thing is a total entity, soft
and hard toguether. You have said so many times and it is truth. I wonder if
something of the sort is also truth for commercial software. I mean, if a
current program is capable of getting the most of new hardware, if in fact it
can get more than an old software, then the argument changes completely. In
fact, lose any sense.
My experience is that certain old programs even got mad with new hardware. It is
the case of CM3000 and of Colossus. Newer programs but still old ones maybe does
not fall in lunacy, but maybe something happens to them either. Or at least they
does not make good use of better hardware. But of course you are the expert.
Mine is just my cent...
