The formula is intended for the AMD64. Using it for a dual opteron system is probably stretching it too much. Elsewhere in this thread, someone asserted that for chess, the Opteron "not much faster" Mhz per Mhz as an Athlon XP. I thought this didn't seem right, but looking at the crafty sections of SPECint2000 at http://www.aceshardware.com/SPECmine/ makes it look like a fair (?) assessment. To be sure, AMDs formula is way off.
