Uri, I must say. I thought you were smarter then this. If you stopped giving money away at tournament for people under 1600 or 2200. You would have no tournament. In Missouri there is only a very few people who have ratings over 2200. And not many people over 1600. Most people who play are below 1600. All player in Missouri over 2200 + 1: 2482 MO BROOKS,MICHAEL A 2: 2429/06 MO NAVEH,ISAAC 3: 2334 MO JONES,KENNETH E 4: 2275 MO BEREZA,PAVEL 5: 2270 MO ECKERT,DOUG D 6: 2245/17 MO FOX,NEIL I 7: 2228 MO LUTHER,RONALD G 8: 2219 MO MC LAUGHLIN,JIM 9: 2205 MO DAVIS,LOAL WILLIAM 10: 2200 MO ELLIS,JAMES S > >The problem is not only cheating with computers but also to do other things. > >It can encourage players to train only against the computer and not participate >in tournaments in order to get level that is clearly higher than 1600 but not >rating that is higher than 1600 in order to win the money. >This is the way to do it without cheating. > >Another way that is cheating and without computer is that a strong player starts >to lose games on purpose in order to have a small rating. > >The point is that even if computer use is detected nothing can be done against >players at master level that are going to win a lot of money in these >tournaments. > >Uri
