Subject: WCCC-2005 : One Big Joke!

Im sure ill get a lot of flak for this, but so be it. Yes, i think this tourn.
is silly to say the least. In the first place, in my opinion, only a complete
idiot would run a 1 cycle round robin. If a program meets another on black, then
it should later be afforded the chance to meet the same opponent on white. Short
of that, the results are not much better than flipping a coin. It proves
absolutely nothing, except someone hasnothing better to do. I mean to hurt no
ones's feelings by leaving their program out, because i see no pushovers in the
current one. But here is my list of entrants-limit it to 12, and u have one hell
of an interesting tournament. Shredder 9, Fritz 8 Bilbao, Junior 9, Tiger 15,
Diep, Deep Seng, Fruit, Zappa, Glaurung Mainz, Toga II 1.0 Beta 2, some version
of Gandalf-u take ur pick, and yes the 12th would be hydra, tho i do have
misgivings about letting a program in that instead of running on hardware, IS
the hardware itself. Then i would pick Bob Hyatt, who i think is extremely smart
and level-headed to decide the format and run the tournament himself. THEN YOU
HAVE A CREDIBLE TOURNAMENT WITH SOME POWERHOUSES. And the winner could then be
crowned the credible WORLD CHAMPION. To those who disagree what can i say. I do
know that hydra wouldnt play, and Bilbao probably wouldnt either, but im just
giving u what i think would be the perfect scenario. Regards, George
