If you use Winzip 7.0 just download the patch and place it in a temporary directory (say C:\temp) - just to be on the safe side. Now doubleclick the zipfile and you will see the contents: ChessTal.exe, some 3Mb. Now click "extract" and specify that you want to extract the file to your temporary directory. You will now find the unzipped ChessTal.exe in that directory: c:\temp\ChessTal.exe. Now copy this ChessTal.exe file to the directory your CsTal II is installed in by following standard Windows procedure (or just by CTRL-dragging the file with the mouse to the CS Tal direcory - don't forget to press CTRL while dragging with your mouse, else the file will not be copied, just a quick link in the target directory. You can also use the copy-command in the taskbar of explorer) You now will be prompted if you want to overwrite the ChessTal.exe already present in this directory. Say YES because this is your new executable. Indeed as suggested you can rename the old ChessTal.exe so your old executable will remain there unharmed in case of any trouble. But no matter how - you now are ready! Fire up the program in the normal way -start>programs> click your old Chess System Tal II icon, because the new executable is there. Started the program? Now go to "help" and click on "about". Look at the window, the last lines. Does it read Chess System Tal II 2.03? Good - close and go to "setup", now choose "reduce strenght" and so on. Hope this helps. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ps. :))If you're another incarnation of Chris Whittington :) and you're stuck, please don't call tech support but ask your questions in front of the mirror at home. It's cheaper, even with those flat phone rates of today. :))) Jeroen ;-} http://zip.to/jeroen
