I think my quote applies to _everyone_. The winner of the WMCCC/WCCC event might be the best program around. And it might not. It might be the best against humans also. And it might not. Shredder has won lots of recent computer chess events, which suggests that the confidence that it is at least among the very best in computer vs computer competition should be very high. It has enough wins to suggest that it is actually the best of the best in comp vs comp competition. Of course, that says _nothing_ about comp vs human competition...
