Dunno .....

I'm now on the 'advisory' committee to the icca, so maybe some
criticisms will get through to them.

This year's tournament ran ok within the tournament hall, in so far as
the games got played, nobody beat anybody up and so on.

The icca went into overkill and shipped all their guys over. They don't
travel economy or stay in 2 star hotels like most of the competitors; so
the costs of club class returns from Canada and 4 star Paris hotels
would have run to over $10,000. Quite a slice of the presumed $20,000
sponsorship.

Of course, even $10,000 of professors were unable to plug in a modem, so
there was no communication to the outside world.

Outside the tournament hall, this was a disaster. Very difficult to get
into Fort Knox. No PR, no results, no Internet, no nothing.

I guess the question is: do we go with them again and try to get them to
move on out of the Stone Age; or do we organise it ourselves. We could
do the latter. I suspect the Tournament at Paderborn could be turned
into a WMCCC. Peter Schreiner is in contact with several of the
programmers (commercial ones) and the indications are that another
organisation can be formed.

What do you and Ed want to do ?

Thanks :)

I think we're putting the Paris version onto the web site today or
tomorrow. You'll need the rest of the CD to make it work ...
